While searching for certain Chola stone inscriptions, came across the details of this temple. The Muktinatheswara temple very near to Nelamangala in Bangalore has a stone Tamil inscription of the Chola king Kulothunga I. The temple was built by Kulothunga Chola I and the deity was called as Mutheeswaram Udaya Mahadevar located in Vinmamangalam of Kukkanur Nadu of Vikrama Chola Mandalam. The Inscription talks about the endowments of nearby villages to the temple. The reign of Kulothunga-I was from 1070 to 1122. Hence this temple is almost 1000 years old. The Inscription is seen in a stone slab just in front of the temple The temple is very small with only one prakara and the sanctum of Muktinatheswara in the center. No other structures for the Goddess and others are seen. Might have vanished in due course. The temple has two set of sculptures for Siva and Vishnu, sculptures of Siva on the right side and the sculptures of Vishnu on the left side. The temple is well maintained. Open in the Morning from 7.30 to 10.30 AM and in the evening from 06.00 to 07.00 PM. A friendly priest is available for conducting pooja.

Mukthanatheshwara Swami Temple is located at , Nelamangala, Karnataka at a distance of 25 kms from Bangalore. It is a small temple and is a lesser known Chola temple dedicated to Lord Mukthanatheshwara (Shiva). This temple is believed to be built by Raja Rajendra Chola in the 10 th century AD. This wonderful ancient temple was recently renovated by the ASI with the help of the locals As some parts of the temple were badly damaged , they had to be replaced by new stones and the work is no match to the original work. The temple is of ekakuta type with Dravidian style of architecture. The outer walls have carvings of forms Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvati some of which are unique. The Shikara is newly constructed.. There is an inscription stone (written in Tamil) in front of the temple giving the information about the temple. There is also a sculpture of the king Rajendra Chola besides a tall pillar. The Carvings on the Outer Walls are very nice and uniqe.Lord Nataraja is with an uniqe Hair Style. The temple houses a Shiva Linga with a Nandi in the front of it. The pillars are extensively carved, setting an excellent example of the Chola architecture. The door frames are also beautifully decorated. A wonderful carving of the Ashtadikpalas can be seen on its ceiling. Must have darshan.

Mukthi Natheshwara Temple located in Binnamangala, Nelamangala town is dedicated to the deity Mukthi Natheshwara (the Hindu god Shiva). . The Tamil language inscriptions in this temple dated to the year 1110 CE belongs to the Chola King “Kulothunga Chola” period.). Exquisite carvings of Walls at the Mukthi Natheshwara Temple, a true display of Chola Architecture in Bengaluru, There are some other 25 temples in the City of Bengaluru built by Cholas but there are no carvings on Walls to this extent. and other statutes of Kings and his assistants found here give a hint about the social, Economic, and dressing conditions of that period ( that is 11th Century in Nelamangala
