Average experience, doesn't seem very popular or competitive given that there's a food court across the corridor which has many more options.

Neel Indian Kitchen and Bar is a new restaurant opened at CR2 Mall, Level 1 (where Inox is located) in Nariman Point, Mumbai. As the name suggests you will find authentic Indian cuisine and those up for an amazing fine dine experience please check this place out. You can also find Neel in Powai which has been there for sometime now. The restaurant belongs to the same group who own Indigo Delicatessen! The ambience of the place is vibrant, spacious, clean and beautiful! The lights at this place resemble like stars in the sky and a lunar eclipse beautifully depicted on one of the walls at the restaurant. That's what atleast I could make of from their decors. To begin with we had the Tamatar Nariyal Shorba, which was a beautiful blend of tomato and coconut with cumin - thick and creamy broth, tasty and refreshing. Must try! I am a big fan of Indian starters and whenever I go to a restaurant which serves Indian cuisine, I always look out for this section! Just adore it! First we tried the Kashundi and Hari Mirch Ke Rataloo - Sweet Potato marinated with chilli and mustard! Nice. Next we had the Peshawari Paneer Tikka - Large cottage cheese cubes marinated with cashew and Red Masala and slowly cooked in tandoor. Looks amazing and tastes amazing too! Must try! To go with starters we decided to order few drinks - juices and mocktails - Lemon Ice Tea, Sweet Lime Fresh Juice and Pina Colada! Pina Colada by far was the favorite amongst all 3. Must try! Well Blended drink. The other 2 drinks were good too! Post this, we had the Mushroom Malai Palak. Starter for mushroom lovers. Mushrooms stuffed with Creamy Spinach! Again marinated with cashew! Lovely aroma and flavor! Lastly, we tried the Asparagus Ki Gilawati. Chef special, at Neel. Imagine Gilawati Kebab for vegetarians, so no meat but stuffing with asparagus! Amazing and so creative! After this, we tried the Malai Kalimiri Broccoli - Broccoli lovers can't miss this dish. Broccoli is tandoor cooked with black peppercorn and marinated with cream and yoghurt! Yummy! Post this, we ordered Nadru Ki Shami. Sounds exotic isn't it? Can be easily mistaken for a galouti kebab but its Lotus Stem and Bengal gram (chickpea) patty. Those open for experimentation, can go for this. Finally moving to the main course, we ordered a wholesome Indian meal - dal, main curries, Indian bread with accompanies - chutney, onions, pickle, etc. (Do check my picture below in this review) Dal - We ordered Kabul Ki Dal - Chef Special - Neel Signature Dish - Must try! You may want to call it Daal Makhani, Maa Ki Daal, call it the way you want to, but the taste is amazing! Yum! Main Vegetables - We tried two vegetables - Khade Masale Ka Paneer and Uttari Lahsooni Saag! Paneer Vegetable is grilled cottage cheese with spicy red gravy! Very different from what you try at any other Indian restaurants. You will feel the rich flavors of the masala when you have it! The other vegetable that we tried was Uttari Lahsooni Saag - Mixed greens with a strong garlic flavor. Cherry tomatoes on top! Lovely, one of the many must tries at Neel! Indian Bread - We had made our own Roti Platter where we tried one of each of the below mentioned Indian Breads - Ulte Tawe Ka Paratha, Taftaan, Malbari Paratha and Masala Kulcha. All the Indian breads were yum! I would definitely recommend the Malabari Paratha and the Ulte Tawe Ka Paratha closely followed by others. Finally to end our meal, we ordered for couple of Indian desserts. Another Neel Special - Parde Mein Khubani - where the server opens the "Parda" in front of you to unveil apricot halwa! Amazing aroma, flavor. So Yum! The "Parda" is edible by the way! Must try, chef recommendation! We also tried the Angoori Rabri, nice, but amongst the two would definitely recommend the Khubani!

An authentic array of aromatic dishes tempted us to try Charbagh Murg Tikka, succulent pieces of chicken tikka marinated with coriander and cashew paste. For mains, we couldn’t resist ordering Paneer Khada Masala along with Kaali Dal (Dal Makhani). We’ve got to say that the paneer was extremely soft and packed with spices. The dal, best one we’ve had so far! What’s best is that nothing felt like hotel cooked food, but a homely, comforting meal. The service staff was cordial and friendly and as a sweet gesture, they offered us Agre Ka Elaichi Jamun complimentary. The jamun was melt in your mouth goodness with the perfect hint of cardamom spice. We couldn’t stop licking our spoons, a lovely experience we can’t wait to go back to! Service - 4.5 Ambience - 4 Taste - 4.5 Value for Money - 4
