I had a great time with the head priest (bhikshuk). Very well educated Japanese man, speaks fluent hindi, is well versed with history of India.

I had visited this place with my family this place is not only for Buddhist but opened for every individual. The day I visited was Buddha Purnima (birthday of Siddharth Gautam Buddha). This is a peaceful place where you can meditate. On the day of Buddha Purnima, kheer is served to everyone who visits there. This place is must visit place if you are planing to visit Mumbai or even if you live in Mumbai.
Since my childhood I always give a visit there on the auspicious day of Buddha Purnima.Our Every day of year is to busy but, on Buddha Purnima after visiting here it feels like you have been into another world of peace.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If your main purpose for visiting the temple is some sort of a "hidden Mumbai" or "off the beaten path" thing, you are going to be disappointed.
Temple consists of a very small central hall of around 800-1000 sq ft maybe, inside a small compound, wish the structure were maintained better. As the only Buddhist temple in the city, it should be valued more.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Japanese temple in Mumbai, yes that's the exact reason that piqued my interest to come to this place. I had read an newspaper article about this place and decided to come here and it was definitely worth it.
The structure looks intricate and gives a feeling a buddhist temple from the outside. As you enter the premises, you can hear the sound of the drum that puts your mind in the meditative state and the fragrance of the incense sticks puts you in a state of calm and relaxing mood.
I experienced a perfect morning and the place is very welcoming. There are winding stairs on top of the temple that's something for the cameras. But overall the place has a special vibe as you come out feeling refreshed and rejuvenated from here.
