★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In area of 2 acres ovlekar wadi has almost 138 spp of butterflies and many plants and tree spps. it opens at 8 am till 1 pm on sundays. owner Rajendra ovale explains about lifecycle of butterfly and shows different stages of butterfly. Rajendra ovale then gives a property visit with us giving practical knowledge. Ovalekar wadi visit is excellent for little kids as this generates curiosity in children about nature and butterflies.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent butterfly garden maintained and developed by Rajendra Ovale owner of the place. Must visit for passionate photographers. Good to know information given by Rajendra sir about habitat of butterflies. Which plants to grow to attract butterflies in your gallery garden. Simple things to take care of nature. Blue Mormon is Maharashtra State Butterfly. Atleast 50 types and more than that categories of butterflies are living in this butterfly garden developed by Rajendra Ovale. A small lane next to Ovala signal on Ghodbunder Road Thane will take you to the butterfly garden.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mr Ovalekar owner of this property and host is a gem of a person, he is very knowledgeable, passionate and dedicated towards butterfly ,thow any questions to him ,he has all the answers
He is very kind and entertaining towards the kids that's what we were here for.
Even in this heat he saw atleast 20 butterfly in 1 hr ,that's still surprising as it close to concrete jungle.
Checklist :- take water bottles, food and umbrella for kids,wear them full clothes as it's an open park with insects and ants.
Carry extra plastic carry bag as Mr owalekar requests everyone to plant more seed in balcony and society premises he provides free seeds.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ovalekar Wadi is a good place for kids to understand the evolution of Butterfly. The owner took time and explained the complete process of Butterfly evolution followed by walking around garden to show different species of butterfly ?. The explanation was in Marathi and so you should be well versed. It is was hot n humid and so take umbrella for kids. This place is open only on Sunday morning 8.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The place is specifically designed to attract ? (butterflies) and includes their host plants in large numbers.
The person, Rajendra Ovalekar, who has set up the place is truly passionate and knowledgeable on the subject by and it shows not only in the footfalls and number of butterfly species but also associated species of moths, bugs, spiders and other insect life.
The butterfly park is about an acre and divided into three discrete areas plus a covered hall which is used to give informative talks on the subject. There are no audiovisual facilities.
The best season to visit the park is from mid-July to December end but the butterflies are there all year round.
The park/garden is open only on Sundays between 8 am to 12:30pm.
The registration fee is Rs.100/-. It's hassle free and involves writing your name and contact number only.
There are no camera charges.
Parking space is available inside the park.

The host(also the owner of this wadi) is passionate about these species and shares good knowledge about their life-cycle and food. As long as you expect this to be more a knowledge trip than a fun one, you are sure to have a good time here :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's a pretty big land developed by Mr. Ovalekar. He has put all the efforts to grow and maintain these plants. You can see many types of butterflies here and planty of different types of plants. Mr. Oalekar also provide guided tour to the Garden with lots of useful information.
Very informative and interesting tour. Kid's should definitely visit this garden.

Mr. Ovalekar is passionate about them and will provide very useful information about butterflies and how to attract them in your gardens. Even in hot sun we could see so many butterflies, including state butterfly of Maharashtra, Blue Mormon!!
