★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unique hill station with less population. One of the beautiful place and I feel better than Shimla/Manali because of less crowd and unique temples/caves like Jata Shankar, Gupt Mahadev, Reachgarh, Dhhopgarh etc. Every places in Pachmarhi is required tracking atleast 200-500 steps and most tiring but beautiful was Bee falls.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pachmarhi - Popularly known as the Queen of Satpuras, Madhya Pradesh
A quaint little hill town Pachmarhi nestled in the Mahadev Ranges of the Satpuras at an altitude of 1100m above the mean sea level has got history, legend, architecture, scenic beauty, wild life, Army Cantonment (The Army Education Corps of India), cave temples, warm/temperate climate, abundant waterfalls and many more to offer. Unlike evergreen forests of western ghats, forests in Satpuras are tropical moist deciduous. Sal is found in abundant especially in Mahadev Ranges, Pachmarhi which has got commercial, medicinal and even religious significance(to locals).
Tourist spots here are categorised into: Forest and Non forest areas wherein Private vehicles are not allowed in the former. A permit from the Forest department issued on daily basis is mandatory to visit places in reserved area whereby only registered 4*4 Gypsys are permitted (along with a certified guide) which can easily negotiate through the narrow patched uneven steep terrain roads deep inside the forest. Bookings for Permit, Gypsy(offered on share or exclusive basis) and certified guide can be made at Bison Lodge Museum from 8.00 AM onwards on first come first serve basis; as per choice for half day, full day along with customised tour plans.
Owing to its remote location accommodation, hiring vehicle at the hill top comes at a premium (Govt. fixed rates are hiked steeply of late). Sharing a tour vehicle could make cost affordable if numbers are small. There are many retreats and resorts even in the foothills of the Pachmarhi (10 Km en route to the hilltop) even they are expensive especially during weekends and holiday/festive seasons. Pachmarhi biosphere reserve draws maximum visitors from Bhopal, M.P throughout the year.
Route Info:
Mostly taken Route to the hill station is either from Chhindwara from the south (through Tamia) or from Hoshangabad in the North West(through Pipariya). Started at 5.00 PM in Hyderabad reached Pachmarhi by 8.00 AM next day. Planning night journey during New Year's eve proved to be fruitful with light incoming traffic in Chhindwara ghat. Roads from Chhindwara bypass via Tamia to Pachmarhi is a single narrow paved one which goes through scenic dense forest. As the entry and exit to the hill station from its foothills goes by the single narrow route better to enter/exit early morning or late night to avoid snarled-up traffic. Route from Tamia to Pachmarhi via Jhirpa and Matkuli is a curled serpantine ghat which could be relatively easy to negotiate if we enter before first light, with little or no incoming traffic. Last but not least better to have tank full at Chhindwara bypass; couldn't find any filling station enroute to pachmarhi via Tamia/Matkuli route. (Only one company operated petrol bunk is present on the hill station as per gypsy operators.)
P.S: Best Time to Travel is during October to March as it rains heavily during rainy as per locals. Though locals call it hill station it doesn't appears to be a strong contender for other competing popular hill stations across our country. However, it offers once in a life time experience of staying inside a jungle beyond doubt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Coolest place in MP. Loved the experience. But as with most tourist places, it is costly during festivals and New Year Eve. Also, weekend is considered a season time here. Hotel and Gypsy rates are quite high during season.
Pipariya is nearest Railway station
