Paharganj, and particularly its primary thoroughfare Main Bazar, is a bustling backpacker enclave full of budget guest houses and tiny shops selling everything from hippie clothes to incense. Paharganj (literally 'hilly neighbourhood') is a neighbourhood of Central Delhi, located just west of the New Delhi Railway Station. Known as Shahganj or King's ganj or market place during Mughal era,[1] it is one of the three administrative subdivisions, of the Central Delhi district, of the National Capital Territory of Delhi, with the other two being, Darya Ganj and Karol Bagh.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I absolutely loved it. It's raw, it's pure, it's real. If you are really up to get an Indian street market experience. This is it. You can't beat Paharganj market with your average city market. Everything you want to find is there and it's cheap; Indian cheap! But don't look for luxury items here. This is not the place for them.

Located at a kilometre’s distance, west from the New Delhi Railway Station is the Paharganj Market which is a hub spot for tourists owing to its close proximity to Central & Old Delhi. This Market is well known for hosting cheap hostels & hotels and is every budget traveller’s paradise. This place attracts a lot of backpackers travelling from various parts of the world.
Its chaotic yet colourful streets, an array of bakeries and bars, a line of shops selling everything from junk jewellery to bags, attract people, including the locals. If you are looking for peace and serenity, this may not be your preferential choice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good area to shop around. Ideal for fabrics, scarves, clothes, teas and household goods like tiffins. We got some great bargains and prices are all reasonable.
It is busy but not as crazy as old Delhi so we found it okay to navigate around.
