★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On the website SMG Convonix claim to be India’s leading digital marketing firm which sounds impressive but recently my daughter was contacted by a recruitment agency to attend an interview and what followed is something I want to highlight here.
She was informed that she is to meet Mr. Julian Fonseca so she informed the Receptionist about the same. After nearly 60 minutes of waiting and blaming the reception for the miscommunication, Mr. Fonseca meets my daughter. What is appalling is that there was no apology offered and moreover he had not even gone through the resume. He had no idea that she was not a graduate as well as that currently she is working in an organisation. My daughter had to point out that all this was in her resume and his defence was that he is meeting her only because she would be offered a third party position.
My query here is that maybe Mr. Fonseca must be overworked as that could be the only reason he did not inform the recruiter that they were searching only for graduates. Maybe due to his busy schedule he could not read through the resume before meeting with the candidate. He stated that no organisation will offer her a job because she is not a graduate. I have a serious doubt on the work potential of this person since as a HR person myself it is very clear that you stick to your brief and do not counsel candidates who come for interviews and you should also be punctual and approachable with the candidates.
I am amazed that such people are working at Convonix because it means that the organisation is not interested in the welfare of their staff or does not train their staff properly. If they did such HR staff would never ever have been part of their recruitment drive. I have always said that after the Reception it is the HR person of the company that is the face of the organisation and the organisation is rated or hated based on these face values.
