 Uttar Pradesh Police is the police service responsible for maintaining justice and law and order in a population of 19 crores (as of 2011) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, in an area of 236,24 sq.km. This police service is the largest police service not only in India but also in the world. The commanding power of the Director-General of Police is about 1.80 lakhs, which regulates the distribution of 31 armed battalions and other specialized wings in 75 districts. Prominent among these wings are: Intelligence, Investigation, Anti-Corruption, Technology, Training and Criminology, etc.
