The district is named after its headquarter town Belha Pratapgarh, commonly known as Pratapgarh. Raja Pratap Bhadur Singh (1628–1682), a local king, he built a fort here and called it Pratapgarh after himself.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Don't go with the pics as shown in google. As I went their excitement level decreased, not a single person was their & guard will not allow to go inside from main gate , he will suggest you to watch from outside. Don't waste time.
