Mr. Rahul Kumar is an International Development Finance Professional, with more than 15 years of overall experience (4 years of International experience) in the NBFC-MFI & development finance space. Having experience of scaling-up microfinance and MSME portfolio is some of the toughest geographies of the world (Afghanistan/India),he has expertise in diverse thematic areas related to microfinance, agriculture value-chain finance, digital financial services, MSME finance, renewable energy finance, livelihood development, risk management for MFIs, training and capacity building on responsive finance, advocacy and partnerships within corporates as well as international developmental agencies . He comes with expreience of working in several large and medium sized NBFC MFIs (BFIL, SAVE, Sarala etc.) within India and overseas and has even built NBFC MFIs from scratch and scaled them to become systemetically important NBFC-MFIs. He has been instrumental in building SAVE Microfinance from scratch and scaling up to 7 states and AUM of 500 crores with end to end digital operations and cashless branch model. Before joining SAVE, he has been associated as Head for India operations with an US based social enterprise (SIMPA Networks) working in renewable energy financing. Prior to that he has contributed as Chief Operating Officer under the World Bank assignment with the leading microfinance entity(MISFA) within Afghanistan, responsible for building a portfolio of 150 million USD in Microfinance & MSME . He has also been instrumental in establishing the Risk management function within MISFA. He has also lead projects within ‘Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’, IFAD, CARE International where has represented at multiple forums within UN & WHO headquarters at Geneva. In past, he has been associated as the core team of India’s largest and first stock exchange listed microfinance entity, BFIL (erstwhile SKS Microfinance) having a customer-base of 65 lakh customers across 19 states with more than 1600 branches.
