★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had gone to the police station five times and told them again and again that I had been cheated of Rs 2.5 lakh and submitted the application as well as all the evidence, but each time I was disappointed. They get their salary from our paid taxes but all are useless.

You will receive call. Police officer will tell you the time to visit the police station. If you receive call you will receive an sms with jist list of documents to carry.
But, if you don't receive call for what so ever reason, you will receive an SMS with your file number and time slot to visit the police station and documents to carry. So, keep watch on your text sms you receive.
Last one year address proof and Identify card one passport photo is required.
Keep ₹500 cash with you just in case.
There is a xerox shop available. So, if you miss any xerox. Keep original documents with you and 1 xerox copy of all.
Electricity bill, adhaar card, PAN CARD, old passport if applied for renewal. Marriage certificate if adding spouse name, birth certificate, school leaving certificate.
Process:
1. Get passport verification form from xerox shop ₹5.
2. Fill the form (file no, address, mob, sign)
3. Wait in the queue other people are also present.
4. No token system so first come first serve verification process.
5. Show all required documents to police officer.
Do ask at end if your police verification is cleared or not to the officer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this week for police verification for family and self. Polite and courteous staff and it was easy, they also offered complimentary 'nimbu' drink. There is a form you need to fill which you will get from Xerox shop nearby (charge Rs 5 for 1 form). 4-star mainly because the timeslot given was 5-6pm wherein many were called in for same time and then you need to stand in line for your number.
