★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The historical place. The architecture indicates this was built in Jain age. This is the spot where Sri SaradaMata indicated Lord Ramakrishna as her husband during the palagan of Gajan Festival.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On the way to Bishnupur from Jairambati we made a halt at Shihar Shantinath Shiva Temple. It is an ancient shrine in the village of Shihar. This temple has the distinction of possessing stone temple, built after old architectural patterns. This temple was regularly visited by Sri Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi.
The annual functions like Kirtana and Yatra attracted people of nearby villages. During one such occasion Sarada Devi, then a mere child, sat in the lap of a woman. She asked Sarada Devi playfully about whom she would like to marry amongst the people gathered there. She pointed towards Ramakrisna and said that she had chosen him as her future husband.
The temple has been constructed on the site where Sarada Devi revealed her desire to marry Ramakrisna Paramhangsa.
When we arrived there the priest was making arrangements for Shivapuja with the help of his wife. He informed us that on the eve of Shivaratri few days back there was a heavy rush.
After offering pranam to God we left for Bishnupur.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old famous shiv temple of sihar. It has old red laterrite stone structure. The mandap in front is newar. This is the place where ma sarada first seen sri ramkrishna while seeing a 'jatra pala' during durga puja. She was 9 years old then but marrid much after. Ma Sarada devi's maternal home was at sihar so she came with her relatives & said 'i will marry him (sri Ramkrishna').

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shantinath Shiva temple, near Jairambati
Shihar has the distinction of possessing a stone temple, built after old architectural patterns and dedicated to Shiva under the name Shantinath. The annual celebrations attracted the villagers from far and near who came to hear Kirtana or to witness open air country theatres called Yatra. During one such kirtana at Hriday’s house a strange thing happened.
Sri Sarada Devi, then a mere child, sat in the lap of woman who asked her in merriment, after the Kirtan, ‘Whom among the great number of people, assembled here, would you like to marry?’ Sri Sarada at once lifted her two tiny hands and pointed to Sri Ramakrishna sitting not far away. At that time she had no idea of what matrimony was; but the unseen power that guided those little hands saw to the fulfillment of the wishes of that unerring heart.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful temple. The decoration of this temple is so eye pleasing. This shiva temple is not like others shiva temples, it has good history . This is the same temple where Mata Sarada had met Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa Dev for the first time which is why this temple is so famous and holy place for hindu religion people.
Path direction: get down at Mayer Ghat busstand and catch toto . I think it will take 10 minutes of time. Or else get down at 21 no. busstand and catch toto.
