★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Once upon a time, Tram used to play from Shibpur to (the then) Calcutta.By the side of GT Road/State Bank of India,Shibpur Br, there was a space/ground wherein tram used to be kept after scheduled duty hours.After that, as the population increases and so the traffic hence the authority decided to withdraw Tram services owing to the reason of "narrow width of GT Road" which was slowing down traffic thereby causing jamming the traffic.Then that vacant space (where trams used to be garaged) used as a cycle stand. Public Bus No.55A, Govt.Bus No.16 used to start from there.At later stage, Mini Bus ( Shibpur Tr.Depo to Esplanade) also started operation.That particular area became full of activities.More that Two thousand cycles used to be kept over there.It was swelling, throbbing till the inception of Vidyasagar Setu(second Howrah Bridge).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Crowded Residential area named due to past tram lines. Lot of food and fast food options over wide area...good sweets available. Taxi and 55A , Rt8 mini bus stand, grand ideal infront and Avani mall , Shalimar station near by
