★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been going to Dr. Mehrotra for the past 12 years for our twin children. we used him because :
a. he was close by.
b. his waiting time was comparatively less and
c. because our children improved with his medicine.
However, all throughout the years we felt that we were getting fleeced every step of the way.
1. Giving vaccinations: just to administer them he would increase his price to Rs 1000 or more. the vaccine had to brought from him otherwise he would not administer it.
2. Follow up visits: charged for every follow up visit as per usual visit charges
3. Child not sick for over 6 months: This doctor charges an additional fee if the child has kept well and has not visited the doctor in 6 months
4. charges for certificates: I cant be sure for this but he also charges a fee to issue certificates for school absenteeism
5. 2% extra if paid by credit card: no where is an additional charged levied if you pay by credit card. why this doctor seems it is necessary is beyond understanding
6. Receipts: provided receipts only if asked for.
7. Doesn't give medicines on the phone: several paediatricians prescribe medicines on the phone for common illnesses like cough cold, stomach ache loose motions etc. however this doctor insists we come to the clinic.
8. Reluctant to come on the phone: he is not always available and discourages all patients to contact him directly. He is not contactable over weekends either. this is a major issue when dealing with infants
9. Nebulization: he insists that nebulization be performed at his clinic because it will be done correctly and hygienically. this we believe is untrue, we had our own nebulizer and used it on our twin daughters regularly and believe me it was much better and far more hygienic than to bring a sick child with fever through pollution and use a nebulizer several other children have previously used.
The last straw was yesterday, when there was an assistant 'doctor' in his place. Firstly I am not sure that she is a doctor, ( MBBS) certainly doesn't talk or act like one. She prescribed a medicine and I was not happy with the way in which the check-up was carried out. I spoke to the doctor who said that I could visit the next day again. I agreed to that. I was told to pay a fee for the assistant doctors check- up and then was told that there will be another fee when I come the next day !!!
This was the last straw! I am never going back to this doctor again. there was no consideration for the fact that we had been visiting him for 12 years with two children sometimes one after the other.
There is no human touch or consideration it is only profitability. No compassion or care just maximization of profits in the shortest possible time!
