It was an ancient temple 1000 years back. The idol has moved behind in sanctum when a priest asked her (Kalima). I was very happy. Please Google it for more information.

1) Focused meditation at this place. 2) Idol has been moved to little bit backwards due to Bhakt wish 3) Idol has been increasing its side since 150 years. History:- ******** In a narrow street called Kaliamman Temple Street in Ulsoor, is located the 150 years old temple, SWAYAMBU SRI KALIAMMAN TEMPLE. It’s known for its miraculous stone idol which has been growing for years. The goddess has a lot of powers. She fulfils all that a person asks for if they go and pray to her or if they just keep a photo of hers in the house and pray. The salient feature of this temple is that the goddess is facing west unlike in other temples where the deity faces east. It is because when a person faces the goddess he will be facing east where the sun rises, so she will bestow spiritual wealth as well as material wealth. In 1980 when the idol was found it was only 9 inches. In 1973 it was 16 inches and now it’s more than that. 1500 years ago a Bairagi (dedicated to uplift society) was a devotee of kali. The goddess pleased with his devotion appeared in front of him. She decided to stay with him in the form of Yogeshwari. He performed regular pooja to her. When he was about to die he buried her under the soil with a sankalpa that she should emerge out by the end of kali yuga to wash out all the evils and usher in the golden age which began from April 16th 1947. 150 years ago the place was ragi field. Once a farmer while ploughing hit a stone with his plough. He tried removing it out when for his surprise he saw the stone bleeding and was shocked. Kali descended into a 14 year old girl, Neela Devi and explained to the people that it was not a stone but the goddess herself. She advised them to perform a simple pooja. The people of the village built a square around the stone and performed abisheka. Later the goddess was named as Kaliamma. Forgetting the instructions of the goddess people started to sacrifice animals. In 1980 Subramanya swamiji from Tiruporur visited the temple and performed nava varna pooja. At that time the vigraha was just one feet away from the entrance of the gharbagudi so he found it difficult to do pooja and hence he sat outside the sanctum and performed the pooja. On the 9th day he prayed that it would have been better if the vigraha was a little behind and on the 10th day when the sanctum was opened he was surprised to see the vigraha moved back to the present position. During navarathri special alankaras are done. There is a huge temple tree behind where, people who want a job, who want to get married and who want children they tie holy thread on the tree trunk by going around it and praying. unusualtemplesofbengaluru
