When a candidate is called for an interview first via a telephonic interview followed by an e-mail invite, the candidate has every right to know whether they are selected or not ASAP. At least they are visiting your office and taking all the rounds of interview/hiring process. Asking them to leave saying 'we'll inform later' and not informing them is not a good norm. Nowadays many decent companies have even started giving feedback so the candidate can improve in their next interview.
