But some are saying that it was a Jain temple during Rashtrakuta period.
Sculpture of this temple , particularly the Crocodile arches on the back part is very beautiful and looks like the sculpture of Temples like Pattadakal etc...

Strict warning - Not to be confused with other ancient siva temples in Bikkavolu.
Blown apart! What can I say! By far, the best maintained temple under ASI in this village. The guard/staff of ASI here is very helpful. We need more people like him. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is recorded historically as MarkandeyaSwamy/Kedareswaraswamy temple. The motifs on the temple, scultures, Shiva linga etc give an unmistakable feel of Chalukya temples at Pattadakal. Worth visiting even if small...
