We took a trip from Vijayanagar to Byappanahalli station near KR Puram about 20 km in 30 minutes. The ride was great. But even at 10.30 am the train was crowded. It shows the popularity. Stations are clean and tidy. Great transport system to beat the chaotic traffic in Bangalore. Very well connected to most parts of the city. More work to connect far off places like electronic city is under progress. A boon for daily commuters. Bangalore metro is good way to commute if this comes in your route. This will save you from mind-boggling traffic and jams on Bangalore road. Have taken a ride once with family, kids will really enjoy the ride. Very clean coaches and good connectivity. Bet to avoid the maddening traffic of Bengaluru. Bangalore metro should follow the likes of Delhi metro and Mumbai local and provide separate compartment for ladies as the mysore road route is so full everyday in the evening that it is literally a struggle to get inside, keep yourself safe from getting harassed by any of the male commuters who are almost falling on you due to heavy rush and finally get off at your destination. Namma metro has got good connectivity to some of the Important areas of Bengaluru , due to which travelling from one place to another is faster and safer. An output of Indian Railway Station Development Corporation. Some of it's important features other than AC are: - Cloak Room - Lift & escalators - Food court like a mall - A 7.5 meter wide smooth tiled foot over bridge making passenger movement with luggage much easier. - 2 Subways connecting all platforms - The slanting pillars on the platform which support the roof also act as benches, a very smart and effective design. - Waiting lounge is modeled on Airport seating, therefore, much classier - AC Upper class waiting hall with sofa seats (beige/cream coloured) which I guess should have been black - All waiting halls with multiple power sockets and USB points so more people can charge their phones - Separate entry and exit points for ease of movement - Parking space for 250 4-wheelers and almost 1000 2-wheelers and all vehicles will have the shade of large trees (saplings have been planted) - Plans to connect with Metro line too (very important but not done yet) - There is parking space for 5 buses too, hope this will translate into actual BMTC bus service. - Plenty of green space, lots of flowering plants and a fountain - The entire railway track in the railway station is a flat cemented base with the sleepers slightly protruding and this means, any dirt can be easily washed off and there is a covered drain running parallel to the track. Though 80% of Indian trains no longer discard waste through the ancient toilet hole 'system', yet, this kind of drainage on the railway tracks make the cleaning job easier. The most important draw back with this station is the lack of arrangements of public transportation and therefore, a lot of passengers will appreciate the pathetically maintained and absolutely village type railway station like KR Puram because of it's excellent ease of access with both buses and metro. Featuring 7 platforms for now, it is around 900 meters above sea level and is likely to be the terminating station for all South and South East India like Kerala and Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Erode, Salem, Nagercoil, Puducherry etc. Chennai main line trains are to continue operating from Majestic. This is India's first AC station but that does not mean that the platforms will have AC, just the main terminal building and halls, not the platforms.

Brand new Railway Station for Bengaluru. Good location. Impressive building with best amenities. Looks high-tech. Many trains will be shifted from KSR City Station to SMVT once it is operational.
