★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I paid a donation of Rs. 5000/- to one of the representatives of SOS Children's Village , Kolkata on 25/06/2015 through a Cheque on HDFC Bank , but I am yet to get an official receipt for the same . It is not that I am keen on saving on my Income Tax , but without the receipt I am afraid the money has gone to the wrong person and is not being used for the purpose it is intended to do . I have written to the organisation a number of times but have not got any response . So , I have decided to make no further donation to this organisation . It may be noted that I have made a total donation of Rs. 17800/- to this organisation
in the last two years .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They are doing an awesome job. Many children are there, learning, studying, playing around. It doesn't feel like an orphanage. They treat the children as their own children. The premises could be a little better and tidy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am the daughter of one of their children. My mother is 49 as per the birth certificate provided by them. Anyway they are few things I must say as I feel public should know about these things.
My mother has studied till class 8 but the SOS Children's Village has failed to provide any documentation. My mother furthermore said that her primary care giver (Mother in charge of the house no.13 during the period of 1960's probably) has torn her annual reports while cleaning the house. So, basically because of their misconduct my mother is not even middle school pass out as there is no documentation to back it.
In addition to this, till date we have received no medical records of my mother. This is very wrong. We may require mother's medical records for the purpose of her health care, but the institution refused to provide any to my father with the excuse there is no record at all.
What an amazing confession of their own misconduct! If they don't keep medical or educational documents of the child, I am afraid I have doubts in there operational methods as a reputed institution.
In the end, I want to say SOS Children's Village doing a noble job providing for the needy children, but they are indeed not good at what they do. There are severe irregularities that can marr the child's life forever and distress the near and dear ones of the child.
