Amazing Breakfasts, Idli Wada Dosa sambhar and chatnis were tasty but they real killer was their Pongal, super tasty. This food joint is a must visit for South Indian food lovers, it's ambience gives feeling of a Tollywood's old restaurants or hotels. Also it's very affordable in terms of price.

Do visit this place for best pongal in the city. Idli is too very good. The place opens at 6:30 in the morning. They serve breakfast till 11 and then open again at 12 in afternoon for lunch etc. They have special feast on every third sunday of the month. Do visit this place around that time. Don't forget to ask them for red chutney along with the white chutney and sambar which they readily give.

Amazing place for food. Typical tamilian style preparations don't expect Vaishali style of sambar very basic kind of sambar. They serve 2 types of unlimited chutney & sambar. Dosas were amazing Ghee roast dosa had actually a nice flavour of Ghee overall value for money place. Don't expect much about ambience & other things if you only want to have good food & no other things matter this is nice place for you then. Filter coffee must try. Value for money place.

The five stars are purely for food. Because the food compensates for everything else. And I'm a little biased here, because well, great food! The ambience isn't anything extraordinary but the place is very clean. The service is quick and the food is authentic. You're transported to South India. I had come here 2 years ago and the taste has remained exactly the same. It isn't easy to get here, it's a small lane and parking is limited. The road isn't very clean either. But the food makes it worth coming here. We had the ghee roast dosa, something you must try here. We also had idli, vada, sada dosa and masala dosa. The filter coffee is good, a tad sweeter than I'd have liked. This is a place you must go to at least once, just for the experience of authentic South Indian food.

No fancy stuff but a home cooked bland tamil food. Can guarantee it won't harm your stomach. Must visit for a homely veg meal.

Head to this 75 year old mess in Rasta Peth (right next to the Rasta Peth Bhaji Mandi) to enjoy some authentic tamilian breakfast and lunch...they also serve snacks after 5 pm...Being a Tamilian myself, I loved the freshly made soft idlis, crunchy vadas and the dosa with really well made and tasty sides of saambaar, coconut and red chutneys and finished it off with a refreshingly strong filter coffee that's made on a separate counter inside the mess...Please see the photo of the menu for all their other offerings.. I can say it is definitely one of the best places to go for a healthy, filling south indian breakfast...ill write again after trying their lunch which sounded quite tempting as well...

It is incredible how food changes from place to place in India. Today you can get food from across India near you. I am a fan of South Indian food, especially when it is simple and authentic (may be because of my love for rice). South Indian Mess is one of my favourite. Located in Rasta Peth in Pune, it serves authentic Tamilian food. The best part of this place is, they have concentrated on food and not other frills. Its simple as it gets. Having the kitchen and dining are in one single room, gives it a homely feel. They generously serve you which also makes it homely. Rasam, Vada, Sambar and Rice is epic and my favourite. Try it for your self.
