★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went to this college for an entrance examination for M.A. The building is quite old, you can easily make out by just looking at it. Though the building looks old and a bit gloomy there is abundant peace and tranquility. Once you enter the college gate you will realise how silent and serene the ambience is. The long corridors are wonderful , they offer outstanding view which may take you to another world where imagination reigns supreme. I was there for an hour and half and I felt a strange nostalgia which words will fail to express. In a congested city, this place provides literally natures lap. I do not know much about the internal affairs of the college, but certainly this college has a beautiful and spacious campus.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was established in 1864. It's affiliated by the University of Calcutta. It is approved by the University Grants Commission. It's an undergraduate college in arts and science subjects. Recently postgraduate studies has been introduced in English subject. The result is being fulfilled expectations. It has been re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Few distinguished passed students are Bipin Chandra Pal, Bishnu Dey, Nirendranath Chakraborty, Samit Bhanja, Rishang Keishing, Anandamoy Bhattacharya, Hokisha Sema, Tarun Majumdar, Tapas Roy etc.
