Difficult road and terrain to walk over ( takes approx 30 min to and 30 mins back to the nearest hotels / lodges - from Gujarati Bhavan / Byke Brightland Hotel)
Definitely worth a visit once.
If difficult to walk , horse ridden passengers can pay and go.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Offers excellent views of the sunset, the valley is loaded with tiny sunflowers and waterfalls, it has an open space where outdoor activities might be conducted. There are around 2 shops which opens at around 4 in the evening

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Matheran's Sunset Point, also known as Porcupine Point, is almost 2 km away (25 minutes’ walk) from the marketplace.
To reach this vantage point, you walk through the woods, admiring greenery and antique cottages. Individuals see countless sunsets during their lifetime, but every time they are left in a different state of mind and heart.
The view offered by Matheran's sunset is so striking that you'll fall in love with it for eternity at the very first glance. When the sun goes down behind the mountains, they glow. It looks like god has painted the sky in a perfect blend of blue, white, yellow, red and brown colours. Sit silently and gaze at that mesmerising painting.
It works as a healer as you feel the peace and dive deep in this pure beauty of nature. They say that sunrise and sunset are the biggest clichés in photography, but still we clicked some of the best pictures here. Be a little careful because some edges are little scary.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Place is very beautiful and serene. It is 30-45 mins walking from matheran market. But it's worth the wait. Sunset timing is 6to 6.15. There are two shops for eating bt you can't eat peacefully because of monkeys.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sunset point is the best point to visit in Matheran. It's quite far away from other points but it's worth it. Approximately at 6 -6:30 PM sunset will happen. Best time to get clicked is from 6:05 to 6:15. You will get the best view and best clicks. There are 3 shops available, sunset vadapav and maggie one is for tea coffee and one is sandwich shop. Beware of monkeys while eating because they will take it away from you. Too many monkeys in the point. There is restroom available but is not cleaned since ages. Overall it's a best experience. You can walk there or rent a horse. They will charge you min 500 rs to and from market. It's difficult to get horse from there if you have not booked it in advance. Make sure to get back from there by 6:30 PM as it will get dark post that and you will not have any lights half of the path. Overall it's a must visit point in Matheran.
