The history of Swarn Bhandar is very interesting..... There is a huge treasury of vimbisar inside the Swarn Bhandar and it is closed with a Mantra... To open the door of the cave you have to read the Mantra and as Mantra is of different script no-one is able to read ... British govt tried to destroy the gate with tanks landmines but failed to do so...... You can visit here for free .... And is just beside the gate of Nature Safari

The history and story of this place is very interesting. Swarn is sona (gold) and it is believed that there is a treasure of gold and belongings on the other side of the door. The door will get opened once the code is decoded which is been written on the wall inside the cave. The code is written in a shankh lipi which is a very old lipi and which was never been taught. Another myth says that there is no treasure inside and the swarn indicated surang/tunnel. So if you get the opportunity then decode the code and get so much gold :P This place is located at a walking distance from chariot wheel marks and very next to the entry point of nature safari.

The Son Bhandar Caves, also Sonebhandar, are two artificial caves belong to Jainism (to Ajivikas earlier) are in Rajgir in the state of Bihar in India. The caves are generally dated to the 3rd or 4th century CE, based on the dedicatory inscription found in the largest cave which uses Gupta script of the 4th century CE, although some authors have suggested the caves could actually go back to the period of the Maurya empire from 319 to 180 BCE. The main cave is rectangular with a pointed ceiling, and the entrance is trapezoidal, reminiscent of the structure of the Barabar Caves (the first artificial caves of India, dated the 3rd century BCE).[3] The quality of the Mauryan polish and the finish are nevertheless much inferior. An inscription in the rock at the entrance of the cave in Gupta characters of the 4th century of our era mentions the construction of the cellar by a Jain Muni ("wise man") named Vairadeva. This inscription naturally led to date the cave to the same period of the 4th century CE. According to Gupta, however, this inscription may be ambiguous and, for him, might only mean that the cave was the subject of re-development work at that time. For this reason, he tends to date the cave on the basis of its similarities with the caves of Barabar (general shape, trapezoidal entrance door, polishing, although extremely limited) to the time of Ashoka (260 BCE), or even a little earlier, making it the possible precursor of all artificial caves in India such as the Barabar Caves. The cave dates were built during rule of Maurya empire during 319 to 180 BCE.

If you know the "Shankh Lipi" then you are the "King" ? Story tells that there is a large storage of gold which is locked by a "Manta" written in "Shankh Lipi"... Bad is that Grammar book of that was in Nalanda University burnt by Bakhtiyar Khilji...shamefull

It's an ancient cave complex. Some say it's from mahabharata times. Some carvings of Buddha in meditating posture are on the walls, bit similar to ajanta Not allowed to climb the place, only see from the ground. The place is clean and well maintained. It is to be said that it has hidden treasure of ancient times golds and jewellary. It is mysterious and lots ofancient stories have been related to it. Several attemps including blowing up the completer structure in British Period went to vain and thus the tresaure is still traceless. Properly managed, neat and clean so one must visit this man made cave in mountains.

There is a myth that rulling kings has stored Gold under the stone of this mountains. So English people tried to take out but nothing was there. There is a hole inside the corner where we used to drop coin to listen the falling sound of it. It was more attractive about 15 years ago now it looks simple and man made.

This historical place in Rajgir is located beside Nature Safari. This place is small and can be visited under an hour. There are local guide who will explain the historical significance of this place. You are allowed to visit inside the cave without any tickets. There is a huge garden outside the cave. You can roam freely in and around the garden and the cave. There is parking place available and a guard assist you in the same. Beware of the monkeys in the area. This place is popular and is crowded a lot on the weekends.
