It is a brilliant initiative, and really convenient to have a safari so near to Patna. It may not be a forest as dense as VTS, but the 472 acre area near to the Rajgir hills is beautiful in itself even in its inception. The amount of investment done is appreciable, and i hope in another two decades this place will be as beautiful and dense as the well canopied Patna zoo, boosting Rajgir's tourism potential further. What you get to enjoy : A well sculpted garden, and campus like as in the Bihar Museum, adequate parking area for over a hundred cars, a museum, beautifully designed and well built Force traveller mini buses, long winding roads within the beautifully landscaped safari park, double enclosure secure gates, five safaris (Herbivore, Bear, Lion, Tiger, Leopard) as of now which will be increased to two more in the future (Zebra, Rhino). Additionally there is a small museum that showcases earth's geogolical evolution, evolution of man, few of the animals in the safari, and paintings. The ticket also allows you to watch a 3d cinema on the park and its animals, but I missed watching this, so can't comment. The Air conditioned well built buses can seat around 15-20 visitors, a guide and driver. The Guide was informative, and strived his best to show us every animal, although except the herbivore safari, the other safaris had only a pair of animals each as of now and it was difficult to spot them. What it lacks: Food is not available in the campus as of now, the animals are less in number currently, the buses though are air conditioned, comfortable and safe, lacked the feel an open gypsy gives in Jim Corbett park or elephant safaris give in Tadoba or Kaziranga. What should improve : They drive too fast between safaris to keep timing. I believe one should maintain a slow speed and silence once in such zones to make it safe for animals, visitors and avoid wear and tear to the vehicles on the uneven terrain. The trips should be 1.5 hours and done slower at a set speed of 20-30 kmph. Best time : As of now early mornings, try to get the 9 AM first slot. The place is arid and incredibly hot as the day advances. I guess in the monsoons this would be a wonderful place to visit. Time taken : The whole trip took 1 hour (9.50 AM-10.50AM) Cost : Around INR 250 (100 for entry , another 150 for trip) . They do not charge cameras, which I appreciate. (In fact it is too difficult to click within the bus, so be in the moment, watch with your naked eyes)

Was waiting for this for a long time. The zoo safari built in Rajgir was opened for the general public from 16 February i.e. Wednesday. This zoo safari made in 191.12 hectares is very attractive. 176 crores have been spent in making it. Rajgir Zoo Safari is situated between Ratnagiri and Swarnagiri Mountains. Five species of wild animals, including the Asiatic lion brought from Gir in Gujarat, have been kept here. These five animals have been kept in separate open cages, which tourists visiting here will be able to see roaming in the open. To make the zoo safari attractive and beautiful, it has been made according to the international standards. It is different from other safaris in the country. A hi-tech control room has been built in this zoo safari from where the entire zoo safari can be monitored. Around 300 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the zoo safari. Ticket window, control room, 180 degree theater have been built. Along with selfie points, water and toilets have also been arranged for the tourists. Rajgir Zoo Safari has been built according to international standards. Rs 176 crore has been spent on this. The deer of Rajgir have been collected and kept in one place. You will also find tigers, lions, leopards, deer roaming here. There is a car arrangement for the seating of 22 people. There are seven lions, two tigers, 200 deer in the zoo safari. After the initiative of PM Modi, six lions have been brought together. Tiger will also come from Tamil Nadu for zoo safari, talks are also going on from Maharashtra. Arrangements have been made for food, shelter, safety and medical care of all the animals. The country's first zoo safari has been completed in Rajgir, Bihar, which is nowhere else. Such hideouts for wildlife are not equal in the country. The panoramic and wonderful view of Zoo Safari at the foothills of Swarna Giri and Vaibhar Giri hills in Rajgir, Bihar is worth seeing. Here tourists will be able to travel safely by vehicles among wild animals roaming in the open. The special thing is that direct train service is available from cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Patna and Gaya to reach Rajgir. Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga are the nearest airports here. This region is also very important for the followers of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism.

Jungle Safari is a good place to visit with families. The jungle is big but the animals are very less, it is good for kids. Entry ticket is Rs 100 and then Rs 150 for bus fare.

The zoo safari has been developed by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at a cost of nearly ₹177 crore (US$23 million). The zoo is spread over 191 hectares (470 acres) and has five zones to accommodate over 250 herbivores and carnivores. Also in the park is an aviary, a butterfly park, an interpretation centre, an orientation gallery, an amphitheater, and a management section. Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish kumar, laid foundation stone on 17 January 2017. The animals at Rajgir Zoo Safari are not in cages but have the ability to roam free over a forest area. Visitors are allowed to watch animals from a secured environment-friendly vehicle. Location The zoo is located in the Nalanda district, around 85 km southeast of Patna. It is located between The Vaibhgiri and Songiri mountain on forested land. It is about half a kilometre from the Rajgir-Gaya road which is adjacent to the Pant Wildlife Sanctuary at the foothills of the Jethian hill. Features The zoo has a fence for keeping the fawns, cubs, and sick animals safe, feeding areas for both the herbivores and carnivores, and another fence to rule out any possibility of the safari animals escaping to the adjoining forest areas. There are also ponds of water for the safari animals to drink from and a security arrangement with watch towers. Attractions It would be carved out of the existing forest area and would be divided into five broad zones one each for lion, tiger, leopard, bear, herbivores, aviary zone for birds and a small butterfly park and a microtelescope will be install on Vaibhgiri mountain to watch sky view of Zoo Safari. Facilities The tourists will begin witness greenery from the entrance gate itself. The Safari will have special arrangement for kids and elderly people. There will be waterfalls all around to increase the treat to the eyes. It will have cycling track, shooting range, mobile cafeteria, an interpretation centre, an orientation centre. It will have also solar powered armoured buses to take the visitors inside the safari area and comfortable shades and bamboo hut for tourists stay. Many exciting things will be available on the hills including climbing the rock, people will go from one side to the other side with the help of the rope in some area the butterfly area and a park theme will be prepared in a manner-oriented in it. It will have all facilities of tourists for professional and amateur wildlife photography.

A little young in term of its existence. And that is the reason for small numbers of animals in the safari. Its not a wild safari, its a zoo safari. Different animals are kept in different enclosure. Food and water are provided to them from the staff members. It has plenty of deers, 2 bears, 6 lions, 2 tigers, 2 leopards. I didn't like the price for which it was offered. Entrance 100₹ - It includes a 10 minutes animation movie, and a museum. Safari 150₹ - I would say, the safari will be much bigger in a couple of years. Currently a person has to pay 250₹, for not much experience.

"Not like a regular zoo. This tour was very lively, interactive and animals were from West Bengal. Those you usually do not see except on the television. The jeep ride was Amazing""… wonderful. From start to finish, the entire staff was knowledgeable. This experience with wild animals is much more intimate than a zoo.
