Must visit! One of the oldest temples established by the Marathas, the Kadu Malleshwara is a popular and a must stop on any itinerary.. The Suburb of Malleshwaram takes its name from this temple. Originally the temple would have been part of a forest (kadu) and now surrounded by bustling markets The Locality of Malleswaram which formed a part of old Bangalore got its name from this temple. The Temple is old but fairly well maintained. A place to visit if you are Shiv Bhakth This is a Hindu temple built in 16th Century and the presiding deity here is Lord Shiva or Ishwara. This is located in prime area of Bangalore i.e. in Malleshwaram and this area has derived its name from this temple. Understandably, when the temple was built, it must have been a forest and hence the name Kadu Malleshwara (‘Kadu’ means ‘forest’ in Kannada). Temple is situated atop a hill, so one has to climb many steps to reach the main temple. Temple was clean & neat and it was fairly crowded on a Tuesday morning when we visited it. Apart from usual deities along with the main deity in the temple, there are quite a few ‘nagas’ (serpent god) installed at road level Park at this temple. In addition, this area has a few other temples such as - Sri Dakshinamukha Nandi Tirtha Kalyani Kshetra, Goddess Gangamma temple, Sri Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple etc. all of which can be covered in about 2-3 hours’ time. Most of these temples close by 12 noon in the morning session. On overall this visit was fulfilling and we felt spiritually satisfied for having covered all the temples in this locality in the morning session.

Excellent park. Not many people visit this. It's an absolute pleasure to be inside this mini forest. I've spotted monkeys multiple times, and a peacock once. Perfect spot to read a book or enjoy the silence.
