Horrible Place. These people pick up dogs for sterilization just to show numbers to the BMC and earn money. Almost all dogs going there contact CANINE DISTEMPER. These people are only concerned about the money recieved from BMC. They don't care about age of dog , size of dog etc. Please don't allow them to pickup dogs from your locality.

If criminal negligence had a face this would be it. Claiming to work in the welfare of animals but doing the exact opposite. Two of our strays were taken there and it took their life. Captured two of our strays for sterilization, when one of them was already pregnant. They administered anaesthesia to the pregnant dog and then abandoned the operation when she didn't fall asleep. The second one had three limbs and couldn't be operated upon as there were risks involved in giving him anaesthesia. However, this problem didn't strike them at the time of picking up these animals. Both were kept at the centre for 12 days for no purpose and were only released when we went looking for them. We later realised that both had caught canine distemper, a non-curable condition in the unhygienic conditions at the centre and died within a week. Strays or pets, think twice before letting this 'welfare' organisation take them away.

Five strays were taken from our society for sterilization. The universal dog catching team is very humble and made sure that none of them were harmed during the process. After sterilization all the five dogs were released at same place within a week and all the five dogs were in healthy condition.

If I could give them negative pointers I would do that as well, unfortunately google doesn't have that!!! It's a pathetic facility to send your community dogs for neutering. They picked up 7 dogs from my area, out of which 1 was a lactating mother of 1 and a half month old puppies, and 3 five month old puppies for neutering. And on the day of releasing the dogs, relocated/dislocated 2 more dogs in my area along with my 7dogs. Neutering lactating female dog and puppies REALLY???? They cramp up 3 dogs in a single cage from different locations causing spread of infection, do not provide water bowls and these cages are stacked on top of one another with no proper drainage facility. Their staff is unprofessional, untrained, drinks on duty and irresponsible. They chopped one of my dogs ears in half when these professional vets are suppose to clip the tip of the ear to indicate sterilization as per BMC and ABC norms. On trying to get in touch with the Founders/doctors to identify the location of dislocated dogs, so they could be dropped off to their original area, they refused to even respond, let alone co-operate for their negligence.

I've got 10 dogs from Borivali West sterilized at universal animal welfare society in the past 4 months so far. Lockdown has not been an easy period and to start with, we desperately wanted one female dog sterilized in May. With BMC completely occupied with the covid work in Mumbai, it was difficult to get BMC to send dog van for catching stray dogs in April & May 2020. That's when I got to know about Dr. Shelke and his universal animal welfare ngo from one person in BMC. I called Dr. Shelke who promptly sent a dog van to catch the dog and got her sterilized and sent her back in 5 days. He had done a very neat job. Now, in the past one month we've got 9 additional dogs sterilized at the center. Dogs were taken in batches of 2-3. Dr. Shelke and his staff (dog catchers and caretakers at the center) have been have provided updates on the dogs whenever requested . Dr Kapil the resident doctor is also very responsive and has provided guidance on post operative care for the dogs once discharged. We were also allowed to visit our dogs at the center and check on them multiple times. We have another 5-6 sterilization planned in the coming weeks. The work carried out by universal animal welfare team is definitely not easy and they are doing a good job with the animal birth control program.
