★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vembanad is perfect place for authentic Kerala food. Price is little costlier. But no compromise on taste, quality and quantity of the food. Service was good. Ambience - you get the feel that you are in kerala.

The seafood platter, fish curries, biryani and beef were good.
The Kappa biryani and pork (with potato) wasnt great and lacked flavor.
The most annoying was the staff who refused to give me 12 seats even though I booked it and refused to take responsibility for the lack in internal communication.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must visit restaurant if you love kerala cuisine. Food was yummy ?. We tried appam fish curry, kappa, puttu-kadala curry, squid masala, king fish fry.. List goes on.. And we did a repeat next day too. Food was that good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food is good. Fish is what stands out - both Naimeen and Karimeen were fresh and tasty. They source this from Mangalore is what they said. Beef was good too. Definite starter. Chicken was so so. Must try item is fish and you will love the rich flavours be it Alleppey fish curry or pollichadu. Service is good too.
Quick note on beer - it’s not the best out there. Among the 4 I loved the stout the most.

The waiter got our order wrong and for the price we paid there are many good kerala restaurants that offer much better food.
Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend visiting here unless you live in the Hotel. It’s highly over priced for the quality of food they offer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Vembanad restaurant is located inside this nice building where other businesses like 'The Paul' and 'Murphy's' is located. Restaurant is neat and clean. When it comes to food, the have a good variety of options in Kerala cuisine. I was a bit disappointed with the taste as it was more bland, probably they were keeping their foreign guests in mind. Also their service was not up to the mark considering there were hardly 10-15 tables and they tend to focus their attention on bigger crowds than serving a couple of guests. Of the dishes that I tried, soup and biryani was good. Meat in Mutton curry was slightly harder and again it was not spicy. Appam was so sweet, believe they add sugar to get a bit of caramelization. Staff tend to forget your orders and I got my drink after three reminders and 30mins. Had plans to visit here for Onam, but wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Kerala food with right spice level as it is not value for your money.
