★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I remember a popular song from yesteryear with a refrain that reminds me so much of Venus Traders: "You can find anything you want at Alice's Restaurant." The store, indeed the entire chain, really does have just about whatever an artist, craftsperson, school teacher, or office purchaser might want -- or for that matter, realize has been invented or even imagined!
Every shelf in every store in this large chain is spilling over with enticing little treasures. I had no idea I'd find outdoor compasses or a clock that runs on water in what I assumed was "just a stationery and art supply store." You really have to treat this place as an adventure destination.
This store can get crowded, and the aisles are not wide, so I'm sure the best time to shop is early morning. Which is certainly possible, as they open at 9 a.m. I'm headed there today and already sorry I didn't plan to start earlier.
