★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The West Bengal Central Valuation Board Act, 1978, was a legislation intended to bring forth a uniformity in the valuation of urban properties in West Bengal and also to introduce an objectivity in the valuation of lands and buildings in the urban areas for the purpose of Municipal taxation, and at the same time to secure a high yield of Municipal revenue in the form of Property Tax which constitutes the principle source of income for the urban local bodies.
