★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was an amazing experience for my family at the Whistling Pines. As it is in the name, it truly is a Homestay. We booked the double room cottage and enjoyed the overnight stay with my parents, wife and kids. The rooms were neat and clean, exactly as in the photos. Mrs Neera and Mr. Shekhar were warm hosts and made us feel at home. Home cooked food was much appreciated. Utensils and induction cooktop were made available to us on request. The view from the balcony is amazing overlooking the Solan Valley... Thank you so much for a pleasant stay.. Looking forward to be here again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having seen most of India and stayed in various hotels,Guest-houses, home-stays and shacks, across the country, I can confidently say that this home-stay was the most satisfying place we have stayed at.... ever !!
Brilliantly located,tastefully done-up accommodation, neat & warm bed, serene surroundings, incredibly tasty food and hospitality par excellence.
Hospitality: 11/10 (..for the extra warmth)
However much is said about Mr.Shashi Shekhar Prasad's and Mrs. Neera Shekhar's hospitality, it will fall short of what we experienced.
We would like to visit again just to relish their amazing hospitality and delectable food ,without going across to any nearby destinations,which we did all these while.

Fantastic local cuisine. The food left me, an avid foodie, completely floored and longing for more.

The place is atop a hill,the balconies overlook the slopy green side,full of Pine trees, which whistle when the wind blows through their leaves.
The nights in the balcony,with the stars dazzling closer to you in rhythm with the whistling Pines,seeming like the nature is sighing in harmony with the pulsating stars,light up your soul from within.
It is ideal to base your vacation here and cover the destinations like Shimla,Kufri,Kasauli,Chail etc which are much too cluttered and expensive for night-halts.
Stayed here three times since 2014.Once,during the summers of 2014 with family;then during the winters of 2015 with family and friends' families; and lastly, during the turn of the year-2016-2017, with family and cousins.
For the reasonable price, delectable food and excellent hospitality, this place is highly recommended for couples and families !!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is quite heavenly. It is ideal for a couple as well as a big group or family. The wooden duplex cottage is beautifully made and decorated tastefully. The view of mighty and misty mountains around and the Solan Valley below is amazing. The lights glowing in Solan Valley in evening and night from terrace gives a strange mistic feeling. The sky is clear and on a clear night lots of stars can be seen.
We will give the place 10 of 10.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A true homestay with warm and always reachable host. Very tastefully done interiors. The wooden cottages is beautiful!!!Superb food and view! Very nicely kept.This was oursecond trip. Having travelled all across Himachal I feel this is the best Homestay in all of Himachal. Recommended for everyone traveling that side.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place can also be referred as a sunset point since it is at a highest point in Solan. It is a very nice and peaceful home stay in a very densely populated city. Owners and the staff are very helpful. The only problem is the location of the home stay which is a bit tricky specially if you are driving on your own.
