Amaravati Archaeological Museum is Located in Amaravati village of Guntur District, which is @35 km away from District headquarters. This Museum discloses the sculptures in the form of galaxy of and the images showcase content that were once a part of the Giant Stupa. There are three Galleries in this Museum, which takes the visitors very close to the old history of this region and the life of the Gautama Buddha. When you entered into First Gallery of this Museum, one will get to see the ancient art traditions of this region. At the second gallery, you will get to see the life size standing pictures image of Gautama Buddha. You can also find some beads and gold coins in this gallery. Third gallery has some of the great sculptures that belong to 2nd Century BC. Overall my personal feeling is worth to visit this site and spending time is good for your knowledge enhancement Timings: Morning 10:00 to Evening 05:00 (Friday Holiday) Entry Fee: 5 INR for Indian Adults

A great place for history buffs to satiate their yearning for Indian history. This museum serves as an annexe to the Maha Chaitya (Stupa) a few hundred metres away. It houses some of the entities unearthed during excavations there as well as excavations from other sites in Andhra Pradesh. It houses a resplendent life-size sculpture of Lord Buddha. Don't miss the crystals unearthed from the Stupa that have objects embedded in them. The slabs of stucco with intricate carvings are a treat to admire. The courtyard at the back comprises slabs from other excavations, and it also has a breathtaking recreation of the Maha Chaitya in its times if glory. The sacred bull, Nandi too resides in the museum. The entire museum has a very salubrious ambience about it, with decently maintained gardens. Do not miss buying the Archaeological Survey of India's mini book on Amravati from here. It shall provide you with a lot of context and history into the Maha Chaitya's glorious past and demise as well as great commentary on the articles housed in the museum.
