★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Largest & one of the oldest Book Fair of world. It is situated close to the Karunamoyee Bus Stand in Salt Lake Sector 5 area. Huge premises available for the fair. All kinds of books are available from the whole world. Food stalls are there at the inside of the fair ground.

It is a unique book fair in the sense of not being a trade fair—the book fair is primarily for the general public rather than whole-sale distributors. It is the world's largest non-trade book fair, Asia's largest book fair and the most attended book fair.[1] It is the world's third largest annual conglomeration of books after the Frankfurt Book Fair and the London Book Fair. Many Kolkatans consider the book fair an inherent part of Kolkata, and instances of people visiting the fair every day during its duration are not uncommon. The fair offers a typical fairground experience with a book flavour—with picnickers, singer-songwriters, and candy floss vendors. With a total footfall of over 2 million people, it is world's largest book fair by attendance.[2]

With over 600 stalls, the fair is a melting pot for both literature and cultures – a be-all and end-all for the bibliophiles in Kolkata and beyond. The focal theme country of this fair is Bangladesh. This will be a celebration of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. Bangladesh Pavilion will be based on the iconic speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, 1971. Other historic moments of Bangladesh will also be showcased in the pavilion. 42 publishers from the country will setup across 50 stalls. Apart from Bangladesh, UK, USA, Russia, Italy, Japan, Iran, Spain, Argentina, Mexico and several Latin American Countries will find a place in the international complex.
