First Canon of the set of two. This is a large canon of the British period. Installed by Britishers on this island for offensives. The huge canon was operated by set of machines attached to it which are below the ground. The whole artillery system is still intact but in bad condition due to lack of maintenance and apathy of ASI. Visitors also abuse it and littering the place. A worth visiting place with mix of excitement and disappointment.

Don't miss cannon hills if you are visiting Eliphenta island. Specially hill 1 is very beautiful. You need to prepare your mind for a 1km trekking to reach the hill point. The top view is amazing from this highest peak of the island.

Very old cannon situated here. Unique viewpoint to explore while you visit elephanta caves. You will get a good view of the sea from there. Take right at the entry of the caves without entering it. There is very steep climb, from there it is about 500 metres. Not recommend for old person or someone with joint or knee pain.

A trail up to the hilltop takes you to an old military post overlooking the harbor. Two cannons were placed here to protect the harbour from pirates. The trail to Cannon hill is accessible from the MDTC restaurant area near the cave's entry ticket counter. There is nothing much to see other than the old cannon , and Β a panoramic view of the landscape beneath it. The trek is through a unpaved trail. From an anti-piracy and military standpoint point, the island remained a strategic point, especially when Mumbai was gradually made into a busy port city in the subsequent centuries. You can still see a few cannon outposts at a place called the Cannon Hills in Elephanta.

The canon is huge. You can enjoy capturing photos on canon. A big banyan tree is also there to have some clicks .

Nearly 1 km distence to caves. Walk of 15 mins and very rough road. Difficult to walk. Carry water with you surely. They are very big massive cannons. View from top is amazing.

Cannon point is the top most point of Elephanta caves or Gharapuri island ? it’s a very beautiful area amidst the sea near Mumbai. It’s an ancient place to visit and find the beautiful nature with a small hike all the way from island to cannon hills. The height is more than 300 metres with a panoramic view one can have all around the sea view and JNPT to see around. Visiting this love is beautiful. Visit early morning and see and spend plenty of time around.
