★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chakda is a very ancient town, mentioned in various ancient texts. The river Ganga (Hooghly) flows past this city.
There is a story behind the name of this place being Chakdah, it is said that the wheel of Bhagirathi's chariot fell here while Bhagirathi was carrying the goddess Ganga on the ground. Since then the name of this place is Chakdaha.
At present Chakda is a very densely populated city especially around Chakda railway station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My living place. A small town, but very nice & attractive to me. All types of necessary elements of living are available. The River Bhagirathi Ganga is very closer to this town, only 3 km from railway station. One of the crowded bus stand in the locality is here. Small town, but always crowded. Cheap fishes, vegetable, dress are available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the busiest railway stations in the Sealdah Main line. It is a small town located beside the river Ganges. Chakdah is famous for it's cheap pricing of goods. A lot of people come to Chakdah at Chakdah হাট for trading. Even many retail shop owners come to buy goods for their shop.
Though the railway station is not so much developed as per the need. Currently there are two platforms. One for UP trains and one for DOWN trains.
