Chhanv Foundation is a Non-Profit Organisation in India working for the rehabilitation of acid attack survivors. Chhanv Foundation raised the unheard voices of acid attack survivors through its campaign Stop Acid Attacks in 2013.
About Chhanv Foundation
As the coronavirus rampages around the world, changing societies in unprecedented ways and claiming lives as I write, I am sure you are in one way or other concerned about your loved ones and your community. Many of us are sharing a sense of vulnerability physically, socially or economically. Yet, as activists, it is also reigniting the sense of urgency and meaning to the work we do. In these trying times, I am especially inspired by the positivity, empathy and cooperation of acid attack survivors of Sheroes Hangout towards the people who are in need.
A crisis like COVID19 outbreak presents challenges that touch many areas of the lives of this small community of acid attack survivors. But, by now they haven’t lent themselves to problems, however challenging or daunting, they are the one who has risen from the ashes. They did whatever was possible to support hungry labours when they were walking for miles after the announcement of a month-long lockdown. They helped each other like sisters and brothers, they are spreading love and hope when they are being interviewed or when they are posting messages online. They have been cultivating love by allowing their most vulnerable and powerful sides to be deeply seen and known, recently I have seen them winning hearts of thousands of our social media followers during LIVE shows broadcasted on Sheroes Hangout Instagram page. They did really well, there is no semblance of victimhood in them but they are in dire need of help after the lockdown. They're never so vulnerable than today, so fragile that slightest financial or emotional pressure can break them. Today is the time to return them the love they deserve.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Working for Chhanv Foundation has been one of the most humbling experiences of my life till date. I most certainly fall short of words to describe the extraordinary courage and perseverance adorned by both the survivors and members of the foundation alike. One of the most remarkable things that makes the work of Chhanv stand out is it's spirit to survive through adversities. The ups and downs follow but we persist through it all.
My mentors at the organisation have shown me by example how to navigate the odds of life and keep up even in the harshest of scenarios. Chhanv is not just another non-profit organization but a fervent revolution voicing the stories of women who were faced with the worst that life had to offer. After joining the foundation and working intimately with it for the past few months I have realised the value of the sheer privilege that my life has been and how there's no better way to put that privilege to good use than by advocating for those who weren't so fortunate. Most of us have never even come close to the experiences of discrimination & violence that these acid attack survivors, or 'Our Sheroes' as we proudly call them, have been put through. But if we work together, I am certain that we can push forward this cause, rehabilitate our sheroes with proper care and make sure that no other human is put through this heart-breaking ordeal. Our founders are truly empathy personified and their guidance and mentorship has been extremely helpful through this journey. Thank you for having me on board. I look forward to continue working for the organisation :)
