β β β β β Once upon a time this must have been a majestic fort. Even though it was small compared to other forts, it had a high wall, a temple, kalyani, palace, and plenty of open space.
It has been deteriorated over the period of time.
The the governments never bothered to set right the dilapidated fort.
The Yuva Bridge undertook the rejuvenation of this tank for almost 1.5 months. And the results are there for everyone to see.

β β β β β Ancient fort is having temple, lake and many old monuments. Chikkajala is called a pre-historic site by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) monument list. The discovery of burial grounds in Chikkajala led historians to date the place to 1000 BC. The historic Channarayaswamy (Channakeshava) temple in the village is believed to be about 950 years old, built by Hoysala king Vishnuvardhana.

β β β β β Expectations was better than reality, We went there with lot of hope and we got to see poorly maintained ruins. No one is there to explain the history,. Not even a board. And i am just happy that they haven't destroyed the place yet,
Infact we were searching for the place and our expectations was so high that we didn't even realise we had passed it back...and then we had to turn back to reach out here

β β β β β Chikkajala Fort located 25 kms outside city on the way to KIA. Fort is 3000 years old, well preserved piece is the Hanuman temple, plants are overgrown inside the Fort, this place can be completed with an 1 hour, so keep other places to visit in mind. If you love history then worth the visit.

β β β β β It is said to be a historic fort recognised by ASI. However, i couldn't see a single board nor the temple was open. The front of the stone walled complex made way to the service roads of the Bellary road that goes via airport. Thought it look like a fort and resembles more of a temple complex built with fort kind of walls.
Pedalled to the place and locals found me amusing for clicking photos of the place. Probably it has no value except the temple that sits there.
A kalyani is the centre of attraction and alongside has a pillared complex.
Wish we clear the place again and get people to study the place.
Can be visited if planned with Akkayammma betta.
