Most awe-inspiring darshan of the sacred deity form of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. His arms are outreached in a most endearing and encouraging way. Also known as "Mahaprabhu bari" and Dhamesvara Mahaprabhu mandir.

About three km from Puri hotel this temple is located on Chakratirtha road in Puri temple. The idol of Gauranga ,that is ,Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is worshipped here.Long back this place used to be surcharged with religious fervour, sentiments of Krishna consciousness ,absolute surrender to God Krishna , to the presiding deity of Puri ,Lord Jagannath.A few Maths are there for the devotees.Morning and evening time is best time to visit the temple and realise the divine presence.Mostly visited by pilgrims ,it is a calm and quiet place.

Sri Mahaprabhu Mandir Overview One of the most revered temples of Navadwipa, Sri Mahaprabhu Temple is located in Srivasa Angan. The temple is subdivided into three shrines. The first is devoted Radha Krishna and Lord Chaitanya. The second to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, for his maha-prakasa-lila, the time when he became the supreme personality of Godhead and the third is dedicated to Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai.

"After Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu accepted the sannyasa order, His wife, Vishnupriya, who was only 16 yrs old at the time, remained in seclusion and chanted Hare Krsna day and night. After some time Mahaprabhu somehow gave her this Deity of Himself (made from neem wood) which was the first Deity of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu ever established. Visnu-priya used to daily worship Mahaprabhu's wooden shoes and this Deity, weeping bitterly and talking with Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and He would also speak to her in the form of that Deity." Excerpt of a lecture given by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja in Murwillumbah, Australia, February 17, 2002 ------- "Caitanya Mahaprabhu danced in mahabhava in Mayapura. There was a neem tree at His house in Mayapura. This tree accepted Mahaprabhu's beautiful form in its heart when He danced in the bliss of sankirtana. When Mahaprabhu left, having taken sannyasa, then this neem tree manifested a beautiful Deity of Mahaprabhu. Visnupriya saw that Mahaprabhu came out of this neem tree and the neem tree disappeared. She took Mahaprabhu in her arms and began worshipping Him, offering Him bhoga, and so forth. And her separation was in this way relieved." Excerpt from the book 'Sri Sri Prema-bhakti Candrika' by Bhaktabandhav Books

There are 5 or 6 temples beside this. You will feel like everyone has made a temple in their house. Average nothing special. Most irritating that they will charge entry fee for these temples.
