★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Mind boggling sight - Mumbai’s unique outdoor laundry system is where chaos, color, activity and sounds mix together in a freakish blend. It’s a fascinating place where Mumbai's laundry gets done. Clothes are hand washed by hundreds of Dhobis (laundry men and women) on concrete sinks and hung on clotheslines.
For 18 to 20 hours each day, over 7,000 people flog, scrub, dye and bleach clothes on concrete wash pens, dry them on ropes, neatly press them and transport the garments to different parts of the city. Over 100,000 clothes are washed each day. The dhobis collect clothes from all corners of the city, with their biggest clients being neighborhood laundries, garment dealers, wedding decorators and caterers, and mid-sized hotels and clubs.

And even if you have not, Dhobi ghat is pretty famous in the world for a unique colony where thousands of clothes are dyed, washed , ironed in a day. All done by hundreds of workers working amazingly hard to keep up the pace. A lot of photogenic places around wih varieties of coloured clothes hanging and columns of water where people are seen washing clothes. It is approachable from the local railway station nearby and is 1 min walking from the overbridge. Do recommend you to visit once if you want to see this traditional colony of Mumbai

Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat is an open air laundry place in Mumbai, India.[1] It is located at Mahalaxmi railway station in southern Mumbai, it is also accessible from the Jacob Circle monorail station. The washers, known as dhobis, work in the open to clean clothes and linens from Mumbai's hotels and hospitals. It was constructed in 1890.[2]
The phrase dhobi ghat is used all over India to refer to any place where many washers are present. Inspired by the Mumbai Dhobi Ghat (then Bombay), the British built Dhobi Ghat in Kolkata (then Calcutta) in 1902[3] and there are other dhobi ghat places all over southern Asia.
It is located next to Mahalaxmi railway station on the Western Railway's Saat Rasta roundabout. It can be easily seen from the flyover bridge of Mahalaxmi station.[4]

This is a very large scale business in mumbai. The planning here and the way to manage this business is awesome. People from far and wide come here to know about their planning and management.
In today's era, people are coming from school and college knowing the strategy to manage business by reading and writing. The people here have maintained this business strategy since the youth of Baba Adam.
Very small business are merged with this business due to which their livelihood is running.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's also known as the Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat & Its the world's largest outdoor laundry. The Dhobi Ghat won a Guinness Book of World Records entry under ‘most people hand-washing clothes at a single location in 2011. It can be viewed easily from the Mahalaxmi Railway station(it's just besides the Mahalaxmi west main station).
#This is the place for good photography & must visit this place (visit before evenings)
#Places to visit near this is Mahalakshmi temple & Haji Ali Dargah (both are at same location but 100meters distance for both of them )
