★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was suffering from backache ..numbness and tingling sensation in left leg from a year.The cause for this was disc bulge in l4l5 disc.My treatment was going on at Dr Devendra Vartak"s Ameya clinic. Throughout the year Dr Vartak tried medication and physiotherapy but it not worked. so he alongwith dr Shardul Soman suggested me to undergo surgery i.e discetomy. Initially i was afraid to undergo surgery but Dr Soman explained me in detail about the surgery it's procedure and the outcome. This encouraged me to undergo the surgery and the surgery was done on 12th dec. Surprisingly all the symptoms and pain was gone immediately after surgery and also i was able to walk at that night. Now after 15 days there is no pain and i am doing daily activities as usual. So my advice to those who are suffering from similar problem is that don't be afraid of spine surgery..now with advanced technique there is minimal incision and risk is also minimum. Recovery is very fast and outcomes are good.so please undergo surgery if your doctor is suggested that.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My mother was feeling pain in spine and leg. She was treated by Dr Soman. My mother undergone spine surgery by Dr Shardul Soman on 1 st Nov 2021 in Lokmanya Hospital Swargate . She was in hospital for 3 days. They took proper pre and post operative care. My mother is diabetic and BP patient. He assured that with proper medicine and diet care, she could travel in trains after operation. After 23 days of surgery she could travel for 5 hrs in train with little pain. It is all Dr. Shardul Sir's magical hands. He answers every questions and clear your doubts. He is really God on Earth for us who relieved my mother's pain.

I was suffering from calf pain and numbness in right leg since Aug 21. By December 21, couldn’t stand or walk for more than 5 minutes. The reason for the same was L4-L5 disc prolapse. I had similar episodes in right and left leg in 2017 and 2019 respectively. But the symptoms were quite different back then (a sudden pain from waist to foot). Hence couldn’t connect the two. With MRI confirming the disc bulge, started the conservative treatment (medicines and traction) as it worked for me twice before. But it didn’t work this time. In fact, one conservative treatment provider said it might be related to nerve and not spine as the treatment was not working. Visited neurologist for clarification who confirmed it to be spine and not the nerve. Visited 7-8 doctors in Mumbai and Pune, was mentally getting ready for surgery but was still looking for other solution to avoid it at the same time. I visited Dr Devendra Vartak and Dr Shardul Soman in April 22. They diagnosed me correctly and provided satisfactory answers to all the questions like – was the reason spine, why the pain was returning, why conservative was not working this time, why consider surgery, why specific approach – open or minimally invasive, the risk of waiting more, risk and side effects of the surgery, any effect on existing medical condition. I had no more doubts. I knew I was in good hands. After few required tests, I underwent minimally invasive discectomy within a week at Ameya Clinic which was performed by Dr Shardul Soman. The pain went away immediately after the surgery, was able to walk the next day. The post-op care, physiotherapy was thoroughly explained when discharged on the third day. It’s been a month now, the recovery is speedy and I have my routine back.
Both the doctors are experts in their field of specialization. They are trustworthy, approachable and have a great team. The hospital staff is efficient and caring. The hospital is well equipped and clean. The treatment cost is economical and reasonable.
So if you or someone you know needs advice for orthopaedic problems, do visit them. If you are advised for surgery don’t be scared, don’t hesitate to ask questions and most importantly don’t delay it to the point where the damage is irreversible.
