★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Durgapur Railway station is well maintained and neat & clean. Situated in Durgapur- 713201. There is canteen & rest room inside the railway station. There is lots of stalls and escalator for the convenience of the passages. Bus, Mini bus, auto and taxi stand outside the railway station. Even there are hotels outside the railway station, where food is available at very reasonable rate. There is lodge also near the railway station.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Durgapur Railway station is one of the best railway stations in the state of west bengal in India. It has all the modern facilities and above all the station is perfectly clean. The main reason for the station to be so well maintained is the commuter. The Commuter of durgapur are highly concerned about their city. The station has a great waiting hall and the retiring rooms are pretty decent. The computerized reservation centre is also very well managed. Durgapur is a model railway station on the Bardhaman-Asansol section. It is located in Paschim Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It serves Durgapur, the third most populous city in West Bengal, and the surrounding industrial areas. "The entire belt between Durgapur (171 km [via Main Line] and 158 km [via Chord Line] from Howrah), and all the way up to Dhanbad and beyond is industrialized. Apart from factories, there are many coalmines, some closed now, and some with fires burning deep in the mineshafts. The mining area extends for a large area, mostly to the south of the tracks. Quite a portion of the track passes through cuttings, where the surrounding area is higher than the track level, resulting in the profusion of characteristic small masonry bridges crossing the tracks." This description is from "Gomoh loco shed and CLW trip record" by Samit Roychoudhury. The first passenger train in eastern India run from Howrah to Hooghly on 15 August 1854. The track was extended to Raniganj by 1855. The station is on the process of up gradation continuously.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the cleanest and most neat station. This is very beautiful. There are five platforms. There are lots of reserved tickets counter and unreserved ticket counters. Always remains very crowded and busy. There are paid washrooms (toilets), tiffin centre, bookstall, tea stall, restroom, enquiry counter, RPF help desk, Free Wifi, car parking and many other facilities available here. There are escalators facilities available for each platform. One of the most important stations for people of Bankura and Purulia district. This station is beside the Durgapur Bus stand as well as Durgapur SBSTC bus depots.
