At the time of kumbh mela all shahi snan (holi bathing) is done at these ghats and kund. It is where the ashes of people who die are offered to the river. This is the Godavari river but is referred to as Ganga by locals. People bath, pray and offer obeyance here. This place needs some order, planning and proper layout so that devotees can have a tension-free and clean visit.

It is said that Shri Prabhu Ramchandra use to come here for bathing during their stay in Panchavati. The Ramkunda is a place where the residual bones after funeral of dead body are disposed and some rituals are performed. It is a strong belief of Hindoos that this ritual gives Moksha to the departed soul. There are many temples around this area viz. Shri Kapaleshwar ( Temple of Lord Shiva - this is the only temple where there is no Nandi in front of Shiva) The Sundar Narayan Temple, Ancient Ganga mata temple, Shri Kala Ram and Shri Gora Ram Temple etc.
