The river godavari originates from the Brahmagiri Mountain, Trimbakeshwar about 24 km (15 mi) from Nashik and flows through the old residential settlement, now in the central part of the city. Due to high pollution created by factories in proximity of the city the river was dying at an alarming rate. It has since been successfully cleaned Nashik lies on the western edge of the deccan plateu which is an ancient volcanic formation Trumbakeshwar is about 30 km (19 mi) from the city, it is where from river ganga originates. The land area of the city is about 259.13 km2(100.05 sq mi).

Close to Kalaram temple there are some very old and lofty banyan trees which are believed to be sprung from five banyans which gave its name to Panchvati. The name ‘Panchvati’ is derived from the words Panch which means five and Vati which means banyan tree. This is the site where Sita Gumph or Sita’s Cave is situated . Ramkund is one of the important historical place from Lord Rama's Era. He used to take a daily bath here. Also Hindu devotees immerse Asthis at this place. Many of Hindu devotees visit this place at the time of Kumbhmela to take holy bath.

Best holy place on the bank of GODAWARI RIVER. It's also known as RAM KUND AND GANGA GHAT. MAHAKUMBH MELA hold once in every 12 years at here. It's not only place, there is many devotees and LORD RAMA HISTORY. One point is negative about cleanliness. Need to upgrade place and tight security for clean program.

Very famous ghat from Nashik. This is a place where Kumbh Mela takes place once in a 12 years. Developed nicely but keeping cleanliness is always challenge as few thousand devotees visits every day for performing the rituals and dirt created out of that is simply unmanageable as overall cleanliness awareness of these visitors is very low. Good place to visit as pilgrimage. Many temples , idols are all across the river basin. Holy deep at this place is having great importance in Hindu religion.

Experiencing the ghat of a historical and traditional river while understanding the significance of it, was one of a kind. Even though the water was unsterile, but still nurturing the decades-old customs is commending of some sort. Parking shouldn't be an issue and you get to explore many temples in and around the ghat.
