About us
The Goverment Polytechnic for Women is situated in the lushgreen and beautiful environs of Sector-10 Chandigarh India, the educational belt of the City Beautiful. It has a spacious building equipped with most modern infrastructure. This Institute has a fully qualified and efficinet staff and caters to the training needs of not only Union Territory of Chandigarh but also for the States of Punjab, Harryana, Himachal Pardesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Uttranchal etc.
History
The Institution was founded by Govt. of Punjab in 1962 to encourage women to take up technical and professional training. Today this institute is one of the best polytechnics for women in the region. It is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Education, Punjab and is headed by the Principal, assisted by well-qualified staff for all courses.
Objectives
The Institute was started exclusively for women so as to encourage them to take technical and professional training. Our Objectives are….
- To provide facilities of technical and professional training to women seeking careers in various fields.
- To supply industry with adequate trained personnel to postitions where women are most suitable.
- To enable women to supplement their family income by taking up suitable careers.

Affiliations
The institute is affiliated to Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Sector 36, Chandigarh for conductor of examinations. The overall administrative control rests with the Director Technical Education U.T. Chandigarh.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was great experience in Gpw college,sec-10,chd . In 2010-2013 batch I have completed my three years diploma in Library and Information Science course and Anil sir ,Amarvir Sir ,charanjit mam teaching skills is very good and very supportive but the library at that time is not digitalized so please also work on digital basis also . so that students also also learn digital library work . beacause whenever we are going for six months training we don't know how to work on online basis with library software,books issue or return on online basis . college is best and theoretical teaching is also best.
