DRY EYE DISEASE (DED) is the commonest eye OPD condition seen nowadays.
Causes of DRY eyes
As per various studies DED incidence is variously estimated to be 7% to even 33% in the general population.
The balance of tear production and tear loss through drainage and evaporation maintains the moisture level in the eyes. When this balance is not sustained, dry spots appear on the surface of the eye and cause irritation.
- This number will continue to grow with our increasing screen time and reliance on smartphones, tablets, TV and laptops causing what is now known as Digital Eye Strain or Computer Vision Syndrome. With increasing use of screens by children for studies, social media and entertainment; this problem is increasingly being seen in much younger age also.
- Modern lifestyle, Air Conditioning A.C., Heaters all increase dry eye problems.
- Aging population is another factor, usually commoner in women than men.
- Decreased sensitivity of the cornea can also lead to insufficient production of tears. Some types of contact lens wear can bring on this lack of sensitivity.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wanted to get my eye number corrected and consulted various eye hospitals in mohali and chandigarh for the same...but I was rejected by everyone saying that either Lasik laser is not suitable or some said that SMILE Laser is not suitable. I finally came to Grover eye institute and Dr. Rohit Grover did a special ASA laser on my eyes. I am really happy with the results and I am totally off glasses now. My eye sight is absolutely normal now. Thanks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poor Patient Service. They treat you like you are their slave. Unprofessional staff. I done my one eye pterigium surgery in this hospital. The day first when I visit to this hospital just to checkup of my eye they changed me rs 500 for consultation+ 2800 for Test(which was just formalities). Test ke naam pe apko 2 room me le Jake junior staff eyes check krege then 3rd room me khud mr Grover check krege. They given me surgery date after 2 days & charged rs 36,000 for one eye surgery. Medicine cost was seperate and medicine you have to buy only this hospital which is very expensive.
After that they call me after one week for General checkup which was free. Then they told me come after one month for second check-up for which they charged rs 500. When I asked about this with Receptionist girl then she argue with me that after one month every time you have to pay rs 500 for checkup. I told her ki iam your existing patient not new patient but wo bolti 500 pay kro nhi to checkup nhi hoga. She was so rude and unprofessional. Ab krte h mr Grover ki baat .I know he is experienced senior doctor. But wo itne busy h ki checkup ke time apse shi se baat bhi nhi krege. Apko 2 mnts me free kar dege without listening you properly and calmly.
Acha baat yhi khtam nhi hoti, the worst thing is that vhi eye problem jiski mene surgery karvai thi itni expensive 7 month baad fir se ho gai.jabki doctor sahab bol rhe the ki me sabse best techniques se surgery ki h dobara hone ka chance nhi h. Ab ap log hi btao kya faeda hua itne expensive hospital me jane ka. I will not recommend this hospital. Please ek baar apni mehnat ki kmai kharch krne se phle 100 baar soch lena yha jane se phle?
