Saras Baug is a spectacular garden that is spread over 25 acres of land in the beautiful city of Pune, Maharashtra. Described by many as a heaven for nature lovers, the garden is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists alike. The area where Saras Baug stands today was once a small lake, which dried up and was converted into the picturesque garden that it is today. Saras Baug’s main attraction is the Talyatla Ganpati Temple, built by the Peshwas in the middle of the lake in the year 1750. In addition to the temple, the beautifully manicured lawns with lush green plantations and gorgeous flowers make this place a great picnic spot for families.

Ask Your Question Saras Baug, Pune Overview Saras Baug is a popular attraction in Pune which was initially a lake at the foothills of Parvati. As the water of the lake dried up, the exposed land was developed into a park and was named Saras Baug. The attraction expands over an area 25 acres and also has a temple in the centre. The shrine is dedicated to Lord Ganesh and because it was built in the middle of a lake, it is also called Talyatla Ganpati. The baug and the temple also have some historical significance as they were built during the time of the Peshwa. The temple, in particular, has been an important venue for several historical events too. At Saras Baug, one can explore the lush green lawns which are often trimmed and well-maintained. People can also walk across the entire park through well-paved pathways. They can hang out at all the sections of the garden kept open for the public as long as they keep the surroundings clean. It, therefore, has a very relaxed sort of an ambience that draws locals in large numbers. The attraction is located at the foothills of Parvati, so, travellers can cover these two attractions in just a few hours. The park also has a small museum dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Saras Baug used to have a zoo also called the Peshwe Park which has been relocated now.

This is really a beautiful garden in Pune. The name of this garden is The Saras Bag. Most families visit this garden with their child's. You can see beautiful lake with fishes and tortoises. This garden is lovable for all age groups. The historical lord Ganesh temple in this garden is the main attraction of many people. I liked the architect of this temple. This is lord Ganesha temple located in the heart of the city near main bus stand known as Swargate. Even if the temple is in the heart of the city it is really a calm and quite place. Temple is surrounded by garden which is currently closed due to Covid situation. When you visit this temple you can feel the calmness this place has and your mind gets refreshed. For those who love to take pictures there are lot of beautiful things which you can capture using your lens.
