Very good place. Architecture of mahal is inclined wall like swing called hindola mahal. It is a meeting hall. Behind firt gate is elephant's entrance to derect 1 st floor. This mahal built by Ghayasuddin Khilji sultan of malwa. But current condition is ruined.

Place full of stories. This is where the rulers used to hold court and listen to people's affairs. It's shaped like an old swing, that's why it's called "Hindola". This is also where they do the sound and light show in the evening and it is highly recommended.

The Hindola Mahal was one of the many buildings that made up the royal palace at Mandu. Believed to be constructed during Hoshang Shah’s reign, the Mahal was probably used as a durbar or meeting hall where the king addressed his citizens. The Hindola Mahal, literally “the swinging place” in English, is resplendent and a reminder of the magnificence of the kingdoms of yesteryear.

A 15th century contruction built in the style of malwa architecture is most probably built by Hoshang Shah. A significant section in the palace complex of Mandu, Hindola mahal is one of its kind...arches are the major attraction. Greens are appreciable in monsoons but unfortunately these palaces are not very well kept. although an interesting light and sound show in the campus is good. it starts after 7 in summers and after 6 in winters. it is a bilingual show and the hindi version is definitely enticing. A fourth star is added for this show. entry fee is negligible Rs 5 per person and timings are 8 to 5.30. can go for a picnic in monsoon. history lovers would like it to be managed better.

This mahal is placed beside Jahaz mahal… the huge still stable and strong structure gives the proof of engineering excellence in ancient times… Underground wells makes it even complicated… One should not miss this place if visited Mandu.

Hindola Mahal – meaning Swing palace is so named due to its sloping side walls. The Hindola Mahal might have been constructed during the reign of Hushang Shah
