Nagendranath Basu was awarded the title "Prachyavidyamaharnav". There is a street in Calcutta named Bishvakosh Lane, named after the massive efforts undertaken by Nagendranath Basu. In addition to the two massive encyclopedias and the Bengali classics, his original books on history and archaeology include Multivolume Banger Jatiya Itihas, Kayasther Varnaparichay, Shunyapurana, Archaeological Survey of Mayurbhanja, Modern Buddhism and its Followers in Orissa and Social History of Kamrup.

This is the house of Nagendranath Basu where he lived several years. Now this is heritage place but not well maintained, needs some repairing. Nagendranath Basu is known mainly for the Bangla Bixhwakosh,first encyclopedia in Bangla, archaeologist, historian and writer. He also translated Shakespeare's Hamlet and Macbeth into Bangla. He was a pillar of the Bangiya Sahitya Parishat. For his extraordinary work in archaeology he was awarded the title of 'Prachyavidyamaharnav'.
