★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A super creepy dollhouse that's haunted! Kolkata's Putul Bari has been spooking the people for ages now with weird sounds, unexplained events and sometimes, rare sightings of something that is surely not of this earthly plane.
During the times of Victorian rule in England, Kolkata was the second busiest city in their global colony after London. The city, scaping through the immense cultural dearth, represented what you may call as 'Kuber's Treasure Trove'. The exquisite lifestyle of the Babus and their rampant loitering of wealth made this city into what we see today. In such a commotion of the past, we bear the story of Putul Bari or The Doll House- a mansion whose cruelties have now made it a haunted place. If you think ghosts are unreal, try talking to the tenants who are staying or at least stayed at this place.
পুতুল বাড়ির নির্মাণশৈলীও যোগ করেছে তার ভূতুড়ে আখ্যায়। বর্তমানের ফ্ল্যাটবাড়ির প্রায় ছ’তলার সমান উচ্চতার পুতুল বাড়ির একদম মাথায় রয়েছে একটি মূর্তি। যা এক সময় দেখা যেত অনেক দূর থেকে। এখনও দেখা যায়। তবে রেল লাইন পেরিয়ে রাস্তার উলটো দিক থেকে।
জানা যায়, পুতুল বাড়ি আদতে ছিল বাংলার এক সময়ের বিখ্যাত ‘নট্ট যাত্রা কোম্পানি’র। পরিবারের পঞ্চম প্রজন্ম এখনও থাকেন এই বাড়ির কিছু অংশে। বাকিরা সকলেই ভাড়াটে। ফলে বাড়ির রক্ষণাবেক্ষণ করার ইচ্ছে থাকলেও হয়তো সামর্থে কুলোয় না মালিক পক্ষের। প্রসঙ্গত, ১৯৯২ সালের ‘সিটি অফ জয়’ ছবিটির শ্যুটিং হয়েছিল এই বাড়িতেই।
হেরিটেজ তো বটেই, সুবিশাল বাড়িটির দৈন্য অবস্থা মন খারাপ করে দেয়। বাড়ির দেওয়াল-ছাদ নানা জায়গা থেকে গজিয়ে উঠেছে আগাছা। দরজা-জানলার অবস্থাও তথৈবচ।
প্রসঙ্গত, শোভাবাজার জেটির খুব কাছেই রয়েছে এই পুতুল বাড়ি। যা এক সময়ে ব্যবহার করা হতো গুদামঘর হিসেবে। এবং বাড়ির উপরের দিকে বাস করত নট্ট কোম্পানির লোকজন।
পুতুল বাড়ি কলকাতার স্থাপত্য শিল্পের এক ঐতিহ্যময় অধ্যায়, এ বিষয়ে কোনও সংশয় নেই। কিন্তু, সরকার এগিয়ে এসে হাল না ধরলে খুব শিগগিরই হারিয়ে যাবে রোমান স্টাইলের এই বিশাল স্থাপত্য। সে জায়াগায় গজিয়ে উঠবে হালফিলের ফ্ল্যাট বাড়ি।

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you love adventure this place is one of the most attractive places for you. Don't miss a chance to visit this so called haunted house for fun and adventure. A very nice place for photo session to get aesthetic essence in the backdrop. Entry inside is not allowed for visitors. Ganga is very close so you can visit ghat to have some fresh air and enjoy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just a bogus place to visit. There is no ghost nothing. It's not at all haunted house. People actually live inside the house. You can find a poster outside the house clearly stating that there is no ghost inside and don't disturbe the people who live inside!
I actually talked with some of the local people they said that it's a big house and the promoters are trying to make an apartment but people who are living inside the house don't want to leave their house so just using social media these promoters are creating hype. People are visiting there, disturbing people who live inside the house whole day. Which is not acceptable.
So PLEASE DON'T TRUST THESE NONSENSE FAKE NEWS and stop visiting this place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Putul Bari known as one of the haunted places in Kolkata. It's situated at 22 Hara Chandra Mullick Lane, Sovabazar near the Circular Railway track and Shovabazar lunch Ghat. Putul Bari also known as the House of Dolls. Putul Bari was constructed as warehouses. The classical statues at the top of the building have earned the nickname Putul Bari. It was also served as a shooting location for Roland Joffe’s movie the City of Joy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is one place for which most of the users gave misleading information. It's not heritage building nor a haunted house. It's simple building where many people live. You can simply see coolers hanging from windows. Don't try barging into homes of others based on incorrect reviews as we made a mistake and started climbing up the stairs and were stopped by the residents. They told the story of wrong reviews and people coming and trying to see their homes.
I hope google team marks this as housing complex not as heritage building.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Putul bari is a heritage building in Kolkata which is rumored to be haunted. But there's no ghost inside & people stay inside also there's a factory in the ground floor of the house. Though the structure of the building will send a chill down your spine at night.
