★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's second generation, now bangalorised Iyer food joint. This 60yr foodie was once a hotspot. The best place near to Malleshwaram cooperative Society and Malleshwaram cooperative Bank.
It seats about 30 people. The original Iyer taste isn't available, morphed to suit every walk in. Normally payasam, dal is to be served, ghee is to be served in Brahmins, all are missing. To manage the show, northies are hired along with other outside people. They don't have an iota of traditional etiquette, only exception being plantain leaf for serving food. More of raw pepper is used in sambar and rasam.
Compared to other hotels, rate and quality are ok. But missing to match the original Tamil Nadu quality and quantity. It's just another veg food place.
But as generations change, only unless traditional people demand and support, the traditional etiquette should be maintained that things will vanish. The aging couple need support.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is in a very narrow lane. You need to be patient enough to visit the place since you have to wait for your turn outside the shop. But food is worth for wait.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tucked in a small lane between 8th and 7th cross Malleswaram. In the 90s most iocnic place for Bachelors, was missing few years, now back (2013 onwards).
Simple, home made, no fancy items fare that goes easy on your gut as well as purse. For me it was a nostalgia more than anything. They have earnestly tried to preserve the tradition, balancing economic and affordability in mind. I would rather patronize this than big brands as this is family run (though they have few workers now, non native).
5/5 for perseverence, taste and social conciouness they bring.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yes, it's good on quantity of food for 80/- meals (weekdays). However, this is a compact place inside a gully which looks like there were no renovations done in 20 years!
I feel this is a overly hyped lunch place in bangalore and not recommend it that much!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's not athentic Iyer mess anymore and it is not finger licking taste. An average taste. Lunch items are minimal and I felt they may add soda to food (not sure ). Price for food is good and affordable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disappointed and dissatisfied....
This place is so much hipped omg.. Not at all worth the price for 110/-..The rasam served was red water no spice and salt. I felt like hospital food. Not at all worth to give try. Look at the pic. No yummy feel you will get. Dissatisfied and disappointed ?
