Is a bit endangered monument.Closed because of some legal matter. But a history in itself. As it is a private property you have to take prior permission to visit the place. So before you visit just check out the status.

Fort is closed but can see from outside , big bastions, ramp-tons , fort wall, main entrance gate. The fort at Kaligam (β€œMukhi no Killo”) located behind Ranip. Near to kali road railway station &10km from Ahmadabad city. Fort is built as military camp & weapon storage for army by suba azam khan in between 1632AD to 1642AD in the reign of Ahmed Shah Badhashah. It is said that the Mukhi (head) of Kali village owns the fort and therefore it is known as Mukhi no Killo. Currently Fort is in a ruins bad shape & closed. Locals say the fort equal to the size of an international footfall ground. However, the fort is not registered as a heritage building. The door is falling off the hinges. It has been boarded up using metal sheets. Someone has bricked up the jharokhas and windows of the structure. Slots in the fort meant for armed guards have been filled up. The entire structure is getting eroded. Now from outside we can see only few bastions , main door , jharokhas, bricks structural designs & road side fort wall. Professor Ramjibhai Savaliya of B J Institute for Learning and Research said, β€œThe fort popularly known as Mukhi no Killo, seems to be made between the era of the Mughals and the Marathas. The bricks used in the construction of the fort are flat and thin. These kind of bricks were used mostly by the Mughals. The architecture of the fort points out to the possibility that it could have been a military camp or chavni.” Director of State Archaeology department Y S Rawat is aware of the Kaligam fort. β€œThe fort was built during the time of Ahmed Shah Badhashah. My study says the king used the fort as a military camp or as a destination for revenue collectors,” he added. Some experts are strongly of the opinion that villages like Kathlal and Sarkhej on the outskirts of Ahmedabad have forts or structures that are part of Ahmedabad’s heritage. However, there is no documentation available to prove this claim. Youtube video : Trekkers Journey FB : trekkers Journey

Ruins of old fort wall. Gate is closed. But people do live inside as assumed from Torrent Power connection seen at the gate. A disgruntled caretaker like person informed me from behind the closed gate that nothing is inside. New buildings have encroached upon the fort walls at places. No signboard, no tourist amenities. Prevented from further exploration by a very hostile dog. Parking on the road.
